Keri Ferencz is a PhD Candidate in Social and Cultural Analysis at Concordia University in Montreal. She holds a BA in Arts and Contemporary Studies with a specialization in Cultural Studies from Ryerson University and a MA in Popular Culture from Brock University. Keri’s work, which is currently focused on Lady Gaga and her fans, is concerned with issues of identity and the possibility for community through fandom. A regular contributor to BoxOfficeBUZ, her work has appeared on PopMatters, Gaga Stigmata, and in the recent volume Joss Whedon: The Complete Companion: The TV Series, the Movies, the Comic Books and More: The Essential Guide to the Whedonverse.

Carrie Jeskanen is a graduate of Plattsburgh State University of New York where she received her Bachelor’s in Anthropology. She is now enrolled in the MA program in Social and Cultural Anthropology at Concordia University. Her current research takes an ethnographic look at how mothers utilize social media (e.g. blogging) and online communities to organize for social justice concerns and issues.

Brian L. Keeley is Professor of Philosophy at Pitzer College in Claremont, California, where he teaches in the Philosophy, Neuroscience and Science, Technology & Society Programs. In addition to work on the philosophy and cognitive science of the sensory modalities, he has also published work in the philosophy of biology, religion & science and the epistemology of conspiracy theories. He also edited Paul Churchland, a collection of papers on the eponymous philosopher of mind and science.

Karen Messer is a PhD student at Concordia University looking at physical space as an active participant in shaping group dynamics, identity, and behaviour. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts from the University of Victoria and a MA in Human Systems Intervention from Concordia. Karen’s current research draws from this interdisciplinary background by taking an embodied and sensorial approach to the often unseen and intangible impact of the physical environment on our day-to-day interactions.

Mike Mowbray recently completed his MA in Sociology at Concordia University, and is currently enrolled in the PhD program in Communications at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. His work examines alternative media, journalism, political communication, social movements, consumerism and contemporary popular culture, with a specific focus on alternative-weekly newspapers in Canada.
